Cross-Age Connection
Fifth grade students recently wrote and shared books about the water cycle with first grade students. During a Teaching and Learning Committee meeting, science faculty discovered that the fifth and first grades were both learning about the water cycle. The fifth grade students had just completed water cycle books demonstrating their knowledge in a children's book format, and visited first grade classrooms to share the books with first graders as they began their study of the water cycle. As a result, the learning was reinforced (in both grades) through this multi-age sharing.
