Accessibility Statement

The MICDS Student Life web site has been designed to demonstrate the achievements and opportunities of students at MICDS. To accomplish this goal, we created a site that strives to meet several accessibility standards. Below is an outline of the steps we took to better access this site.

Access Keys

The MICDS student life web page uses a feature called access keys to allow easy keyboard navigation around the main sections of the site. Access keys are typically implemented using the following conventions on most modern web browsers:

On Windows: Press ALT and the access key.

On Macintosh: Press Control and the access key.

Here are the access keys for this website and the pages that they load (also note that many times, if you hover over a link, you will be able to see the access key):

Text Size and Presentation

This site is designed to allow users to resize text on these pages to aid readibility. Many common browsers allow you to change the font size of web sites in the "View" Menu.

These pages are legible even if stylesheets are turned off. Also, some browsers, like Netscape or Mozilla allow you to use an alternate stylesheet that increases the font size.

Standards Compliance

The following list outlines this sites compliances with various Internet standards:

  1. All of the pages for this web site validate as XHTML.
  2. All pages on this site strive to meet the accessibility guidelines outlines in the W3 Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
  3. All pages on this site strive to meet the guidelines of the United States Federal Government Section 508 Guidelines.
  4. This site uses structured semantic markup so that this page works in the most browsers and Internet-ready devices. Even if images or other features of the presentation are turned off, the content of this site is still accessible.
